  • Drive The Blue Ridge Parkway

    Best For: Relaxing, views, hiking

    Description: We are located just 11 minutes the famed Blue Ridge Parkway. Not sure what to do, or can’t do much hiking? Hop in the car and head out for a beautiful, scenic ride down one of the most iconic roads in the world. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it at one of the many overlooks along the way. Tired of driving? Hop out and hike a random trail for a bit - you never know what you’ll find! Definitely head out around “golden hour” (5-7 PM in the summer). In peak months it can be heavily trafficked, but everyone is so enthralled with the sites it doesn’t matter!

  • Pisgah Inn

    Best for: Beautiful Views, Cold Beer, Nice Lunch

    Description: Just 4 miles from the house via the Blue Ridge Parkway you’ll find the hidden gem that is the Pisgah Inn. Park in the lot and walk to the back for breathtaking, long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Grab a beer or a bite and sit in the rocking chairs if the weather is nice, or enjoy a meal in the glass enclosed dining room. Make sure to swing by the gift shop which is one of our favorite places to get cute local souvenirs, pottery and artwork!

  • Grove Park Inn

    Best For: Lunch, Wine, Views

    Description: The Grove Park Inn is an institution in Asheville. It’s hosted presidents, musicians, actors and athletes. Best known for it’s soaring ceilings, gorgeous massive indoor fire places and most importantly, stunning terrace overlooking the impeccable manicured golf course with long-range mountain views. Grab a drink at the bar and sit by the fire or, head town and snag a spot on the terrace for sunset. It’s pricey, but the lunch is also excellent. A must see and do!

  • Downtown Hendersonville

    Best For: Shopping, Dining, Street Festivals

    Description: Downtown Hendersonville is being touted as the “new Asheville”. Main street and the surrounding offshoots have lots of cute shops, bakeries and restaurants and a couple of breweries too. About 45 minutes from the house and a fun way to break up the trip and have a relaxing afternoon. Check out the pinball museum and stop by one of the local bakeries!

  • Linville Caverns

    Best For: Nature, Education, Immersive experience

    Description: Linville Caverns is a super touristy spot that gets pretty crowded in the peak season (May - August), but it’s worth seeing at least once. The cave formations are other worldly. Plus, people say it’s an “energy vortex”. People visiting Linville are known to have powerful mystical experiences and even physical healings! Arrive to the caves EARLY IN THE MORNING if possible near opening time to avoid a 2+ hour wait.

  • Downtown Waynesville

    Best For: Shopping, Quick Bite, Antiques

    Description: Small and quaint mountain town that perfectly captures the region. An easy drive from the house, this is a great option on days where it might be too hot to hike, or you’re looking to change up the pace and do a bit of shopping after a morning hiking in the woods. Waynesville has lots of little boutiques, antique stores and some great restaurants too. Stroll Main street and if you’re there in the summer be sure to check and see if there are local events!

  • Lake Junaluska

    Best For: Relaxing, Sunset views

    Description: Lake Junalaska is a little hidden gem right outside of Waynseville and just 25 minutes to downtown Asheville. A pretty lake with a paved walking trail, it’s a great spot to grab a bottle of wine and watch the sunset over the mountains and the water.

  • Christmas Tree Farms

    Best For: Holidays, Charming, Family fun

    Description: Visiting during the holidays? Spend time at one of the many local area Christmas Tree Farms.

  • River Arts District

    Best For: Art, Pottery, Breweries

    River Arts District has gentrified over the last decade or so and is now a popular tourist destination to shop local galleries, discover local artists and grab a beer. You can also walk the trail along the river which is pretty.

  • Pritchard Park

    Best For: Music, drum circles

    Friday and Saturday nights in the summer Pritchard turns into a super fun drum circle. Crowds listen and dance to the beats which are heard throughout downtown.

  • New Belgium Brewing Company

    Best For: Beer enthusiasts, Tour

    New Belgium moved their main operation here and you can do a tour of the facility. Cool experience for beer lovers.

  • Western NC Photo Tours

    Western NC Photo Tours is a company that offers small, private tours & workshops that focus on helping you capture better photos. Their tours show you to the most breathtaking locations across the Blue Ridge Mountains that only the locals know about.

  • The Biltmore Estate

    Visit Biltmore, America's Largest Home, built by George Vanderbilt. Explore the 8000-acre estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC. The Biltmore is an all day experience. It features a tour of the home itself, a winery, restaurants, shopping, events and stunning grounds. Definitely a must see any time of year.
